It's a new month and a new year...fresh pages in my Day-Timer, new file folders in the
correspondence section on the computer, fresh to-do lists, and renewed commitments
to--start exercising once again, get my yoga program back in gear, and get up early
enough for a beach walk every morning on unblemished sand.....
The scene below my balcony has been filled with families down from Guadalajara and Mexico City for holidays at the beach. Above the sky has been filled with daring tourists dangling from colorful parasails hoping they don't land in the palm trees or on my balcony.
They prompted this sketch—part of a series called Fun in PV and are featured on a collection of t-shirts available at Ambiance by Marcia in PV and at my studio. I wonder if I will ever get the courage to try this myself one of these days. After whipping around on top of a 40-foot mast, how bad can a parasail ride be?......
Visitors are finding their way to the second floor above the tortilla factory for my Open Studio visits—Aquiles Serdan 369, Puerto Vallarta, every Wednesday between 11 and 3pm. Last week I enjoyed meeting folks from San Francisco; Holland; Corvalis, OR; New York City; and Battleground, WA, on Christmas Eve day. If you are in PV, please drop by and say "hello.".....
Plans are taking shape for Coming About, the innovative women's sailing program we've been working on. Our first session is slated to begin on March 12 and run for nine days. With four days of on-shore classes followed by practice sessions on the bay, two full-day sailing sessions, and finally a three-day live-aboard cruise to some of the small beaches and villages along the bay's edge, participants will graduate ready to bareboat charter, captain their own boats, or be the competent first mate/co-captain for an offshore cruise. Our website is still under development, but if anyone wants more information, please email me at email@example.com .......
January 10th, I'll present a slide show and talk for area sailors and sign books at the new Banderas Bay Yacht Club in Marina Vallarta (at the head of 'H' dock) at 8:00. It is being hosted by the yacht club and Gringos' Books in Bucerias. Seating is limited.
And on January 22nd, the Westin Regina Resort in Marina Vallarta will once again host a slide show and book signing...last year this event drew 400 people. The presentation on the 22nd will be of greater interest to a general crowd....
My Capricorn granddaughter Alissa and I share birthdays this month...she'll be 8, and we won't talk about which number just slid by me. It was just a reminder to make the most of every day...it's the only one you have.
Wishing you all the best for the New Year...peace, joy, and contentment.
